My Personal Review OnLorex LIVE snap Video Baby Monitor Add-On Camera

No perfect baby Monitor We’ve had this monitor for about 48 hours and now wanted to give our first impressions quickly.

First, you had a summer infant video monitor with our first child two years ago. We were not happy with it. The sound was not great and the video at the end she left after a year of use. With our second child we decided to have another baby video monitor and sought support more than one camera. Say it is not a baby monitor video quality out there that I found. I’ll start with the pros.

Pros: – Video quality is as good as their peers. Do not go, but serves its purpose. For the night has a pretty good range and is more than enough. – Little interference. We have cell phones, Wi-Fi, cordless phones, baby monitor audio and many other wireless devices and have not had any interference. – Time interval. Pretty good. We had the camera in front of the house and were able to get a signal in the back. It was probably 35 feet away and was 4-5 at the half walls. – Usability. The buttons are well established and intuitive. We like the form factor – something like a cell phone from the old school candy bar style. – Two-way communication. It works when you can get the ‘up’ for work (see cons).

Cons: – Build quality is mediocre. The plastic is a bit cheaper. The buttons are not responding. The menu button and up / talk “take several attempts to activate. It is as if the plastic buttons are not aligned properly. It may take 4-5 attempts to activate the menu sometimes. Very annoying. When you browse the menu button works fine but the top button works erratically. I often end up scrolling through the list using the button below. The other buttons, 1-4, left / right, power does not seem to have a problem and it can only be this particular unit. It makes me wonder if we’ll have a full year of use out of the screen before it goes belly up, however. – VOX does not work. The monitor has a setting called VOX only turn on the monitor after it detects a noise. It does not work in ours. We have energy saving as the instructions indicate. We put in an empty room (ie, quiet) and became the VOX of their lower sensitivity (highest to noise required to activate) and only cycles off almost immediately. Only cycles on / off continuously. When set to the higher sensitivity we see no difference. VOX turned off and we just use the energy saving function (the video turns off after a predetermined time period.) – Audio. All right. Without VOX is a constant buzz light because the audio is always on. There can be super strong either (not a big deal for us). No interference in the audio is a plus, however. He is placed in the back of the unit. When you do not have the receiver in the cradle, the speaker can be turned off when placed. Will not stand in the end, so the monitor is set down on the loudspeaker or on the LCD. – Cot. The cradle is a bit annoying. The base has a male end of a mini-USB that connects to the unit of payment. The drive slot to slide in the support is not very tight so it takes a little finesse to get the mini-usb to align the unit. No big deal, but is not as easy as we would like when checking the monitor late at night.

The monitor is fine. Not good. I wish there was a video monitor that is high quality. I would definitely pay for a pass instead of a new one every year.

My Personal Review OnSummer Infant Sleek and Secure Handheld Color Video Monitor, Grey

Solid video monitor This is our video monitor in the first place, we have to use our second child after using a Graco Vibe monitor audio only our first child. Having a video monitor is very useful, it does an excellent job of keeping out of baby’s room. As a concerned parent, it is very easy to want to come in and make sure a baby is well, that too often ends up disturbing baby. However, I can take this monitor and see that my child is OK.

By not using video monitors, it is difficult to make a comparison, but I did a little research to compare other models with this, there are some things that makes this model an easy choice: – Small, pocket monitor – Support for up to four cameras, – Security Audio / Video Power

As another critic has pointed out, the mounting options are somewhat limited, you can mount on the wall with a screw w / anchor wall or sit on a shelf or other flat surface. I decided my two cameras mounted on the wall. Although it has decided not to use the cheapy wall anchor included and more pleasant to use a local hardware store. If you turn the volume all the way into the monitor, you can keep the monitor in one hand and place the camera out with your other hand. As suggested in the manual, I put a teddy bear where the baby sleeps in the crib. Help make it easier to determine the location of the camera. One thing I liked about the cameras and the monitor is that they come with very long cables. Too electronic shorty come with cables, not this.

One thing that was not very impressed with the high video quality, video is a little grainy, washed and has a slow almost feel it is not a high-speed frame, maybe 5 frames per second. That said, the most important feature for a baby video monitor, I think that night vision works pretty well. I can see that my baby is sleeping, moving or not moving. I mounted the camera of 3.4 feet of the baby and if I look closely, you can usually see if your eyes are open or closed, even with night vision.

We set up the other camera in the room with my eldest daughter, allowing us to visually check every child with the touch of a button, which is nothing less than impressive. It was also easy to add, press a few buttons, turn on the second camera and voila! You can even use the scan feature that switches between monitors every 8 seconds. We have white noise going on each child’s room, so when the camera swaps between the room, the audio swap. The only thing to keep in mind is that the exchange of audio can be distracting if you’re trying to sleep. For that reason, we still use the Graco monitor room audio and video monitor with audio on the other.

I’ve only had this monitor a couple of weeks, so I can not comment on battery life, but the battery seems to last all day from normal use, the load during the night.

I probably have given this 4.5 stars, if possible, but decided to go with 5 to offset some of the other reviews that seem too low due to abnormal break or something that is not necessarily directly related to product characteristics and quality.

What Should New Parents Know about Their Baby

All new parents are concerned with their child’s safety. One of the first things bought is an espow baby monitor to listen in on the baby as the parents move around the house. However, there is a hidden danger. Most people become so accustomed over the months that they will even hold very private conversations about bank account numbers, passwords and other sensitive information as they sit next to the monitor.

Most analog baby monitor systems bought down at Target or Wal-Mart are seemingly safe. They don’t tell you that in today’s world, those monitors can be “tapped” into. These monitors do not use secure digital technology to preserve privacy. In fact, anyone with the know how can hear what you say in the privacy of your own home over those type monitors. In essence, you have done the burglar or wire-tapper’s job for them. You have placed a “bug” in your own home. What is more, you know about the bug and have no intention of turning it off or even of removing it.

Some say, but I will remember to never talk about sensitive information near the monitor. Well, you are still deceiving yourself. Do you really want your nosey neighbor knowing what you bought your wife for her birthday? It is also continues to provide a method for a burglar to gather critical information as to your schedule: when you leave, when you sleep, what rooms you typically occupy in the evening, even the sounds of you setting your alarm system being turned on and off.

The best choice is to select a high quality wireless intercom system such as the WireFree Wireless System or SVAT Video Security/Baby Monitor System. High quality digital systems give the user one less thing to worry about. They provide security of information. These systems can be found at such sites as [http://www.espow.com]. In general, these type models are longer lasting, more reliable and have clearer reception than analog models. In addition, they are less prone to interference and many models provide two-way rather than one-way communication. In the case of the SVAT Video Security System, it can even be expanded at a later date with a few additional cameras into a video home security system.

The Summer Infant Best View Color Video Baby Monitor has all the necessary requirements that parents need, making it one of the top quality video baby monitors available. It’s 100% digital technology provides crystal clear audio and video with a secure, private transmission up to 350 feet. The Summer Infant Best View Handheld Color Monitor has a large color screen at 2.5 inches which is larger than most handheld video baby monitors.

A very useful and unique feature of this video baby monitor is the ability to remotely pan, scan and zoom on the camera. Parents using this digital video monitor have given it an average customer rating score of 4.5 out of 5 which is simply quite outstanding.

Video Picture Quality:

During the day the color picture quality is excellent and the black and white night vision is also very good, even in a totally black room. Black and white night vision is standard with color monitors with infrared technology. There are red lights on the front of the camera around the lens which most people find are not too bright, but  someone has experienced these lights to flash every 5 seconds which in turn makes the vision on the monitor flash also. The majority of people do not experience the flashing red lights on the camera and it is presumed that those who did have either a faulty camera, or the room was not dark enough for the camera to distinguish between functioning in night or day vision.

There are green lights above the camera lens and soft red lights all around the camera lens that should not be flashing on and off. There is a green power indicator light on the camera that is generally considered to be too bright, some people have resolved this issue by covering it with electrical tape.

Audio and Reception:

The sound quality is very good, it’s so sensitive you can hear your baby breathing if you want to. There are a wide range of audio settings, from loud to quiet, to off. The LED lights that indicate sound from your baby light up even when the volume is turned off, they also don’t change based on the volume setting on the parent monitor.

The one common complaint from parents using the Summer Infant Best View Handheld Baby Video Monitor is that it doesn’t have a volume control knob, but you have to enter into the menu to adjust the volume, it’s very easily done but some people don’t like this feature of the monitor.

The range is very good, the manufacturer quotes 350 feet but to expect an optimal distance for in home use of 60 feet. Many people have used this monitor over multiple floors in their homes without any interruption in transmission of audio and video, there is also no static with this video baby monitor.

Transmission & Interference:

The Best View Handheld Video Baby Monitor system operates at 2.4GHz (802.11g) a common frequency for many household wireless networks. The majority of people that use this video baby monitor system do not experience any interference or decreased performance of other electronic devices such as wireless router, laptop computers, iphone, wireless printers, TiVo, NAS, PS3, XBox 360, Wii and cordless phones. There is however, the other minority that do experience interference with wireless routers (802.11g) and other electronic devices. Trying 802.11n (MIMO) might solve interference issues for some people.

Other Features:

Batteries: The monitor uses 3 AA rechargeable NiMh batteries which are included, and last up to 10 hours. If you are running the monitor on batteries instead of AC power the screen turns off automatically to conserve battery life and you have to turn the video back on by pressing a button on the top of the monitor, the baby monitor does not automatically turn off the video image if it is connected to the power.

Remote Pan and Zoom: A great feature of the ‘Best View’ video baby monitor is the pan/tilt and zoom functions. The camera has a motorised mount, it can be turned through a wide range of motion, it’s controlled by a small joystick on the handheld monitor. When the camera moves it’s very quiet so it wont wake up your baby, it pans about 320 degrees so you will be able to scan most of your child’s room, this is an advantage to monitor the toddler who likes to get out of bed and play in their room. The camera can tilt upwards 90 degrees and downwards about 40 degrees from horizontal. There are 2 zoom levels (not continuous as with the pan) which work quite well, it’s nice to be able to see if your baby’s eyes are open or closed.

Extra Camera: A unique feature of the ‘Summer Infant Best View Baby Video Monitor’ is that it can take up to an additional 3 camera’s, making 4 in total, a great benefit when you have more than one young child you want to see and hear.

Parents opinions about the Summer Infant Best View Color Baby Video Monitor usually run along the line of ‘love this monitor’, ‘absolutely great monitor’, ‘fantastic baby video monitor’, ‘best video monitor I have seen’, ‘great buy, worth the price for peace of mind’, the consensus is that the Summer Infant Best View Color Baby Video Monitor with 2.5′ screen is one of the very best quality and most popular video baby monitors available today.

The Most Evolved Baby Safety Monitors

A mother cannot afford to cook in the kitchen and be with her baby in the nursery at the same time. Nor can a father or mother entertain the guests or manage their home job and be with the baby simultaneously. All of them rely on a baby safety monitor to track their baby’s sounds and activities to make sure that the baby is safe.

Earlier models of these monitors were simple machines that contained a transmitting and receiving mechanism. But manufacturers of baby monitors are nowadays incorporating the full spectrum benefits of advancing technology into the making of these gadgets. The result is that the latest ones that use digital technology are several steps ahead in their functionality than the analog monitors that have been prevalent before it.

The Pros of Digital Baby Safety Monitors

Digital monitors, first of all, provide far better sound and video quality than analog monitors. The precise transmission of sounds using digital technology enables the listener to make out even the slight variation in the child’s breathing patterns. And they can view the child’s movements and facial expressions also better because of the sharper video quality of digital monitors.

The range availability and interference features are also better in digital monitors than in analog monitors. If a baby is to be viewed only from a couple of rooms away, any type of monitor would suffice. But those who have a larger house and want to view the baby from the yard, or deck, or garage, should ideally rely on digital baby safety monitor since it provides a much higher range. With analog monitors, the sounds that your baby makes can be picked up by neighbors also who rely on the same frequency for their baby monitors, and you may also get to listen to the sounds their baby makes. This can sometimes be inconvenient, or confusing. Digital monitors have better no-interference technology and security features that help to maintain the users’ privacy.

And the Cons

While the benefits of digital baby monitors are fully acknowledged, it has its negative sides as well.  The health risks involved in the technology has not been fully ruled out. The electromagnetic waves that are part of the digital technology is said to expose the child to radiation. While these are bad even for adults, the tender body and organs of babies are believed to be more susceptible to the radiation from electromagnetic waves. A partial solution out of this is keeping the monitor as far away from the child as possible.

Another downside of digital monitors is its high cost. The question whether this is a downside or not will depend on the long term cost effectiveness of the product and the financial capacity of the buyer.

Conclusion

Digital baby safety monitors invariably have more to offer than analog baby monitors. However, a user’s requirements have also to be considered in evaluating a product. For smaller range requirements, analog monitors will also give a satisfactory service.
