There are many ways to ensure that the baby in your life is being treated correctly. There are many newborn baby gifts that include toys and other items that make the newborn’s life enjoyable, but what about the other items that will ensure a good quality of life? What about when the baby gets bathed, or the items used to wipe their bottoms when they’re changed?

You want to make sure these lotions and creams and shampoos and soaps are soothing on their skin and that they’re safe for use on the baby’s delicate skin. If there’s a company that knows how to make these types of quality items, it’s Johnson and Johnson. The Parents Will Love It

The parents of a newborn quickly find that their money doesn’t last as long as they’d like. After all the formula, diapers, bottles, nipples, bibs, towels, blankets, and even toys and cribs, they often have to go with the cheaper items just to make ends meet. The cheap items may be the creams, lotions and such that they use on the baby’s skin. Don’t let that happen. When it comes to baby gifts, you often want to help the parents out as much as you can.

That means getting a Johnson and Johnson baby gift set so that the parents have what they need when they need it. The baby will be treated correctly, the baby’s quality of life will be improved and everyone will be happy in the end. Johnson and Johnson knows how to make a quality product and that’s why these gift sets are ideal for any occasion.

Baby Crib Advice and Tips

Congratulations!  You have just learned that you are having a baby.  Whether this is your first or not you need to look at cribs.  Do you have one already?  Is it an antique?  A second hand crib whether antique or not needs to be carefully looked at.  This is for the safety of your new baby.

The screws, bolts, and/or other fasteners should all be in place. Are they loose?  Will the position of the mattress hold under your baby’s weight? It is imperative that this be tested before you put your baby in the crib. Take something that approximates the weight of your baby at about 4 months old.  Bounce it off the mattress to be certain it will hold its position. If it doesn’t it could cause serious injury to your baby or worse.

When setting up the nursery (if it isn’t already up) consider very carefully where you will place the crib.  If you place the crib near a window and you have Venetian blinds, either shorten the cords or anchor them somewhere that your baby can’t reach and get a hold of them.  If it all possible avoid placing the crib near the window. As your baby grows into a toddler and s/he attempts to climb out of the crib; s/he could possibly fall which could cause serious injury to your baby.

Blankets and your baby are not necessarily a good mix. With the incidents of SIDS today, you want to be sure to do everything that could possibly put your infant at risk.  It is more advisable to put your baby to bed in a sleeper. If you absolutely have to have a blanket on the baby, tuck it tightly around and under the foot of the mattress with your baby’s feet touching the footboard.  Also you don’t want to put the blanket any higher on the baby than up to his chest as that will help prevent him from slipping under the blankets and suffocating.

Bumper pads are a great concept but unless they are secured properly, there is a risk of your baby slipping between the mattress and the bumpers and possibly suffocating.  If you use them they should be anchored in at least eight places one at each corner of the crib and at least two spaced evenly on each of the sides. There should be a total of 16 ties in all, for the top and bottom.

Mobiles are a nice addition and look adorable but… the caution here is that if you use a mobile as soon as your baby starts to sit up on his own the mobile should be taken down to prevent your baby from getting tangled in it. Also make sure that it has no small removable parts that your baby could choke on.
If your crib is second hand no matter whether you had for a previous child or you got it from someone else check out the mattress carefully. Make sure there are no cracks or holes in the mattress covering. Make sure too that the mattress properly fits in the crib. Here again, your child could slip between the mattress and the sidebars or the end boards and suffocate.  The mattress should fit snugly in the crib.  Now the sheets you use in your baby’s crib should also fit properly and not slip and slide.  Sheet anchors are available that hook on the sheet under the mattress and keep it in place.

The position of the mattress is imperative for your child’s safety. Most parents put the mattress at the highest position when the baby first comes home because it is so much easier to change him in that position. As your baby becomes more active you will want to lower the mattress accordingly. Once your baby is able to pull up to a standing position put the mattress in the lowest possible position and to be sure your baby is safe, measure the distance between the top of the side bar and the mattress.  In the lowest position the distance of the top of the side bar should be no more than 26 inches above the mattress.  If your child’s head is over the side bar or they climb out of the crib, it maybe time to move your child to a regular bed. Some cribs are convertible into beds tat will grow with your child.

The crib itself should be looked over for things that might put your baby at risk. Have you seen those cribs that have ornate designs carved into the end boards?  They are beautiful but they pose a danger to your child. Your child could get his head or arm and leg caught and sustain an injury. The simpler the design of the crib the safer your child may be.

Since approximately 1974 federal safety guidelines for cribs state that the slats should be no more than 2 3/8 inches apart. This is to prevent your baby from getting his head stuck between the slats.  This could cause injury to your baby but it would necessitate the removal of some of the slats and that alone would compromise your baby’s safety.

Crib Bedding Sets-What Would Be The Best?

Crib bedding sets are as different in variety as every baby and every pregnancy is different for every mother. Shopping for the nursery is oh so much fun. Knowing what bedding set you are going to have for your new bundle of joy will help you make other important decorating decisions.

First and for most for my new mothers as well as those experiencing the joy of a new baby for another time please remember “Safety Before Beauty”. Yes we would all love to turn our little one’s nursery into a unique and beautiful representation of our love for baby, however keeping in mind Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, they are newborns first.

While trying to get the fit for your family, remember the importance of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Which means that when choosing a bed set for the crib, fluffy plush pillows and blankets are not a good idea in cribs, because of the possibility of suffocation. Instead for a little bit just use thin sheets that fit snug around the edges of the mattress.

Bumpers cover the rails of the crib that may be hazardous to a young child. Whether it is your first or your fifth child, your babies health and well being will forever be on your mind.

Now that safety has been pounded into your head we can explore various types of nursery bed sets available. Satin and Cotton combinations seem to be the most popular mixed material bed set. However cotton is the most popular fabric. Cotton breathes and cleans well and very few babies are allergic to it. Flannel is a good choice also because of the way it keeps the babies warm.

Satin feels great against the babies skin. Other good fabrics are chenille, corduroy, and suede. Of course there is nothing better for a child’s skin then all natural material. Eco-friendly bedding sets that do not use any dyes or chemicals and promote all natural coloring are also available.

While on your journey for the ideal crib bedding set, make sure the quality matches the price, and always put safety first. If shopping for your nursery seems a bit overwhelming, stop take a breath and relax. If time is a problem you can save time buy shopping online. With that said HAVE FUN!

You can easily shop affordable and coordinated bedding made in America by logging on to KidsBeddingNow.com. Transition from crib bedding to bed and interchange with toddler bedding is offered by the website that might help parents, who desire to give their kids the best.

One of the most exciting things about being pregnant is shopping for crib furniture. When you are shopping for crib furniture, you are usually looking for something to match your nursery and the overall décor of your home. If you prefer contemporary home décor, perhaps a modern crib is way to go.

A modern crib can be described as practical and cozy. The crib should add to the décor of your nursery as well as provide a resting place for your baby. As with any other form of modern home décor, it is important to select a crib that is practical. That being said, in order to be considered a modern crib, the crib should serve a purpose.

Safety

All cribs assembled in recent and current years have to meet certain safety regulations. The regulations that must be met are continuously updated to provide an environment for your baby that is free of harm. With that being said, new cribs must all meet these regulations. However, it is best to double check before you make a purchase to ensure your child’s safety. Typically, the crib should have slats that are no more than 2 3/8 inches wide. This will decrease the chances of your baby getting caught between these slats.

Adjustable

Many modern cribs have an adjustable side rail. Parents need easy access to remove their baby from the crib. Before you purchase a crib, examine the side rail to determine whether or not it allows you to easily access the baby in the crib. Modern cribs should also allow you to adjust the height of the mattress. As the child grows, the mattress will need to be lowered for safety reasons.

Design of the Frame

It is very important that you purchase a modern crib with a reliable frame. It would not be safe to place a baby in a crib that is not sturdy or may tip over. Once assembled, check to make sure there is no exposed hardware that the baby can remove as he grows. Modern cribs are often designed to look much different than standard cribs. If you are unsure of how to assemble correctly, please request the assistance of a professional.

baby sheets

Many people save their baby sheets because they feel their children grow up too fast, and they keep them to remember when their child was very small. Most families get a few sets of sheets for a shower gift, but there are many sizes and they may have to go out and buy more. This can be pricy, but some sheets are really good without having to cost more than the crib or the bed. There are some safety issues to keep in mind when shopping for them however, and it is more important that they be safe than cheap.

Baby sheets should fit the mattress tightly and securely. It might even be a good idea to have some sort of way to secure the sheets to each other so that there is no chance that they will come up while the baby is sleeping. Baby sheets can come loose and wrap around the neck or the head and the baby could suffocate. This is why it is essential to have the right size, and this also means that used sheets probably are not a good idea. They may have been stretched out of shape and the elastic might not be as good as it once was.

There are different sizes of baby sheets, and some have to be hand or special made. Anything that goes in a bassinet must fit the tiny mattress securely, and these might not be easy to find. Most baby sheets come in standard crib size, but when buying a special crib, it is important to know how easy it will be to find sheets that will fit an odd shaped mattress. Though the corner style crib seems very cute, it might be hard to get sheets for it. The same can be said for the mattress that are much thicker than others. The sheets might be expensive as well.

Though the initial buying of baby sheets might be a little expensive, the good news is that in many cases they are something that can be used long after the baby is out of the crib. The toddler sized bed mattress usually is the same size as the crib, and some cribs even turn into a toddler sized bed. A child might not be in this size for very long, but they may be able to sleep in this size until age five. After that a twin will be needed, and of course, more sheets.

Nine months is a long time to plan. Nine months to work. Nine months to search. Nine months to perfect. Part of the magic of a new child is putting together the perfect nursery to welcome the little miracle to the world. Seeing a finished nursery is one of the most magical and rewarding things you will ever experience.

Of course, it’s only rewarding afterwards. Putting together any new living space can be a stressful ordeal. But putting together a living space for someone who doesn’t have any tastes or ideas yet, well, that’s nearly impossible, right? Thankfully, parents have been doing it for centuries and it’s not that tough. All you have to do is keep a few things in mind and just go by your own personal tastes. In the end, your baby won’t mind as long as it’s comfortable (remember your doing this more for yourself then the baby at this point).

If you really take a breath and think about it, the key to putting together any room in the house is pre- planning and making sure everything matches. People are going to buy personalized baby gifts for your baby, and while that’s sweet unfortunately these gifts don’t always match the planned décor. Because of this try and give those who you know are going to buy gifts an idea on what you want the baby’s room to look like. Show them around the planning stages. Don’t tell them what to buy, but instead let them in on the process so that they can buy the perfect gift that matches the overall theme of the room.

Of course, the overall theme and color scheme of your babies nursery is going to come right from your own brain. Thankfully, thanks’ to the explosion of chain stores you can get most of your babies furniture and decorations at one or two locations. Plus, you can usually get everything at a pretty competitive price if you check prices at different stores. You can now get everything from cute paintings, to mirrors, to cribs, to lamps in one location, all for a cheap price (and all made in China).

Planning is paramount in making sure that you put together the perfect nursery for your baby. Before actually buying furniture and decorations, make sure you measure and diagram where you’re going to put your furniture. It might sound like your being over cautious, but before you start impulsively buying furniture make sure you take precise measurements on what will go where in your nursery. Nothing is worse than putting together a crib and realizing that it’s too big for an area. That’s when the real stress comes in. Thankfully, by taking a few steps, you can make sure it all goes painlessly.

One of the biggest worries when a mom to be is preparing for baby is the baby’s room. Having the proper baby furniture and bedding is essential. But, what do you need and what isn’t necessary? Sure, it’s nice to have a whole room designed to a nursery theme with crib, rocker, bassinet, and changing table. But, all of those products aren’t necessary and in fact, baby isn’t going to care what she gets her diaper changed on. Changing tables are one thing that can be eliminated as well as the bassinet. Cribs and baby bedding are made to support any size baby from a newborn to a toddler. So, while these products are great to have, don’t worry if you don’t have them.

As for baby clothing, you will want to pamper baby for sure with cute outfits, little booties, and hats. But, the truth of the matter is, during the beginning months of baby’s life, he or she won’t have too many big outings to go to. In fact, mom and baby will probably spend a lot of their time resting up for the next feeding in the middle of the night. Again, yes it is great to have a dresser full of cuteness, but reality is, a few cute outfits will do just as well. Now, you should not short yourself on onesies and sleepers. Baby will spend most of his or her day in these and will more then likely need a few per day depending on how much baby decides to spit up. Don’t forget the diapers! Having several burping clothes and blankets will also help.

Does all this discourage you? Every parent wants to give their child the best every step of the way. But, having the best furniture and clothing isn’t going to help baby in any way. If you really want to find some or all of these items but don’t have a large budget to work with, you do have other options. The most obvious of these is to ask family and friends for hand me downs. More then likely, they will be happy to lend you the items they no longer need. Or, if someone is asking you what you need, don’t be afraid to tell them what you would like to have.
