While the original purpose for bamboo fibres used for clothing was allotted only to the making of corsets and bustles, improvements in the manufacturing processes involved have enabled bamboo to be used extensively for everything from baby blankets, booties, and nappies to men’s and women’s attire for everyday use or fashionable clothing that is soft, durable, and fashionable. The modern bamboo clothing seen on millions of people today is made from 100% bamboo fibres in the form of yarn or may be found in blends of cotton or organic cotton added to bamboo. Hemp as well as spandex is also combined with bamboo in the manufacture of clothing that has become increasingly popular.

Bamboo has a long tradition of wear in China and Japan

Historically textile workers in both Japan and China have woven together bamboo in thin strips, and then formed them into shoes and hats. Those familiar looking fishermen and farmer’s hats have generally been formed from bamboo fibres with the addition of whalebone or steel wire to protect the workers from the heat from the daily sun. What they needed was protective and long lasting material for their shoes as well as hats with wide brims and bamboo worked extremely well plus was quickly grown and easily cultivated.

Basic steps in the process of making wearable attire from bamboo

Modern yarn is now manufactured from the bamboo plant. It can be spun into a very viscose type yarn that is then formed into soft and luxurious materials that can then be dyed to add colour and will wear extremely well. The process is as follows:

1. Leaves of the bamboo plant are gathered, along with the inner pith which is soft and pliable, are crushed and go through a steaming process.

2. Crushed bamboo is then soaked (in a safe form of sodium hydroxide), producing cellulose.

3. This soft material is then put through a spinning process to form it into threads that can be woven into various types of material, from wood like for paper or baby soft for blankets and sheets. The softest most desirable material made from the cellulose material is put through a sieve like process called spinneret nozzles which creates the viscose fibre that eventually becomes an amazingly soft and resilient material, resulting in bamboo clothing.

A Swiss company has a more natural method of creating fibre from bamboo and that involves mechanically crushing bamboo then putting it through a process involving natural enzymes followed by washing, which breaks down the fibre into a soft material ready to be woven into clothing or linens. The result is high quality and very durable materials.

China is the main source for bamboo used for clothing

The Hebei Jigao Chemical Fibre Company is the source for most of the bamboo material which is turned into bamboo clothing. The patent held by them is for the primary process involved in turning bamboo into wearable clothing as well as linens, blankets, towels, and many other items that can be luxuriously soft and long wearing. Certified organic, the bamboo produced there must meet requirements that include proof that it originates from 100% pure bamboo stalks.

Ready for Winter

Now the summer has gone and autumn is definitely in the air, mums thoughts turn to winter coats, gloves, hats and scarves and baby blankets.  Over the years we have been through most versions of winter clothing in our house at some point such as waterproof trousers, snow boots and other bits and bobs.  It can get very complicated getting ready in the mornings and finding everything you need.  For babies, the best solution is that you have a baby travel wrap or baby blanket on the buggy or pram all the time with cosy toes or pram cover, that way you know where it is and you can just put your baby in and go.  For older children organisation is the key and it has taken me many years to get to the point where I can say we are finally sorted.

We have all our coats hung up in the cupboard and I have hooks lower down on the door for children’s coats so they reach them.  When it comes to hats gloves and scarves, I got a big round tall basket which they all go in, in the cupboard.  The kids can pull it out and find what they need; I am still trying to train them to put everything back in when they have found what they are looking for.  I have realised that it is best to buy several pairs of cheap gloves for each child, because no matter how hard you try, you always end up losing one or both gloves of a pair.

]]>

Shoes, trainers and welly’s, you cannot imagine how many children require for various activities, again I eventually came up with a solution, we have a shoe rack by the door for adult shoes, but when it comes to kids shoes I decided to get a big basket which goes by the door, this means that the children can get their own shoes and put them away on their own.

When it comes to babies, you can have hats and gloves, but they quite often lose them so it is better if you can get a baby blanket that incorporates a hood within its design

The most important thing is time, allow yourself plenty of time before you go out to get ready not only to get everything on, but also to allow for discussion about what your child does and does not want to wear!  We had many of these; things that they were happy to wear one day had changed by the next!  If you can get your baby into the pram ready to go, but leave the baby blanket off, it will avoid them getting too hot while they are waiting, especially if you have any delays!

As the colder weather comes and children are returning to school and playgroup , whether it be coats, hats, gloves, welly’s or baby blankets the key is getting organised to make going out as easy as possible!

I have children myself and I write about products and tips which are useful to parents, they cover making life less fuss and more fun, saving time and getting out and about with young babies and children.  Some of my articles are interesting but they try to have a bit of fun and laughter about them.

Not really. You can obtain it easily from the market. You don’t have to be an expert on quilting or knitting. You can consider buying one by placing your order directly from any reliable manufacturer of the blankets or from any store that offers such customized service. There is a wide variety of baby blankets which you can choose from. They are different in terms of designs, colors and materials. You can choose the printable designs based on your own preferences. You can even place the baby’s photo on the blanket. Babies have special eyesight. In order to attract them, you can consider getting blankets with bright colors such as red, orange, green, pink, etc, In terms of materials, it is better for you to choose those soft materials so that the babies can sleep comfortably and peacefully. A blanket made of woven cotton with satin lining on its edge can be a good choice.

If you have good sewing skills, you can produce a customized baby blanket on your own. You can save some costs and yet you can get the best materials. First, you are suggested to purchase a plain baby blanket. Make sure the quality of fabric is good. You can personalize the blanket by using embroidery techniques. You can make use of the embroidery to stitch the baby’s name and his or her date of birth. Isn’t it great to see a baby sleeping with his or her unique blanket?

Most of the parents like to receive personalized blankets because these gifts are practical and useful. Some parents even order these blankets on their own to show their love to their lovely babies. Great Ideas For A Newborn Baby Gift

Do you know someone with a newborn baby and you want a gift idea for them? You’ve come to the right place. We will discuss various kinds of baby gifts – their different benefits – so that you can make the decision that works best for you.

Practical Ideas First

One idea for a newborn baby gift is to give the parents something that is practical. This is probably the first idea many newborn baby gift seekers think of. The benefit of giving the parents a practical gift should be obvious – the gift will be appreciated because it will be something they can use in taking care of their baby. Common practical gifts are diapers, baby clothes, a rattle, and blankets. You can buy these individually, or get them as a set – a gift basket – and give the parents several gifts in one.

Usually, these items are always good to get, and it would be hard to be given too many of them – other than perhaps too many of the teeny, tiny size of something (clothes or diapers), because babies quickly outgrow the “newborn” size of anything. When you give  a practical gift, it saves the parents money that they would otherwise need to spend on more baby clothes, or diapers, etc. They can be very appreciative.

Practical? Who Needs Practical?

On the other hand, why give a practical gift? Isn’t this a time to celebrate, to go all out, to get the parents and baby something truly spectacular? You could, instead, have the great idea that this newborn baby gift could be an opportunity to give them something that is less generic and more specially thought out for them.

A great gift idea for a newborn baby is to give a personalized gift – be it a bib, blanket, bath towel, or “lovey,” having their name on something makes it all the more unique and special. For fabric items, like those listed previously, the name, date and time of birth, and length and weight can be sewn or embroidered onto the item.

Sometimes they are embroidered around the edge of a blanket, or can be put on the fabric near a corner. If the item isn’t fabric, but instead is metal, like a baby mug or a silver rattle, the information can be engraved. Glass items can be etched. A picture frame or similar item can have the pertinent information painted around the edge. Any of these will make a unique newborn baby gift, the idea being to do something special for the new baby.

Another unique idea for a newborn baby gift, girl or boy, is to get a custom made item, like a blanket with the baby’s name and hand and foot prints, with the meaning of the baby’s name and the origin of the name. Sometimes the company can even make a portrait of the baby or the family, making it all the more personalized.

Sometimes the giver will opt to include a personal message to the infant or parents, or a Bible verse or special poem. It is truly up to the person’s preference – almost anything can be done. This makes a special gift that will be treasured forever.

Tips For Choosing Baby Nursery Bedding

It’s a good idea to begin planning for your baby’s crib bedding even before your baby is born. To start with, don’t be misled by the argument that you cant plan for baby’s crib bedding without knowing if its going to be a girl or a boy. Its true parents want different patterns, colours and designs for girl and boy babies. Please don’t worry about this because there are many bedding choices and even nursery color options available in the market which are fine for both girls and boys.

It is easy for parents “especially those looking for baby bedding for the first time” to concern themselves with things that are less important than vital ones. Please remember that while we adults spend an average of eight hours per day, i.e. twenty-four hours, in bed, baby spends most of the twenty-four hours in bed!

The very first item on your priority checklist is Safety. We tend to forget the simple fact that baby can’t say if it feels uncomfortable. We parents must think proactively and ensure the chosen crib beddings are safe from all aspects. For instance, the view that very soft beds are most comfortable for baby isn’t true. The bedding should be slightly firm. Also, desist from piling the crib with cuddly toys and teddy bears and pillows. Adults may find them colorful and lovely but not baby. These can turn into hazards because baby could accidentally suffocate. Keep the cot clear of all pillows and soft toys!

Tucking baby under heavy blankets to keep cold draughts away isn’t sensible either. The normal thrashing of baby’s limbs can bring such blankets over its face and it cant breathe.

Next, plan to keep your baby’s nursery fully stocked with bedding essentials. Its hard to talk exact numbers of sheets needed; After all, except for bawling, baby cant really tell you it needs changing and how often! But blankets and cot sheets might have to be changed several times a day. Pure cotton sheets are best and I’ve already told you about using light blankets. A tip: check the thread count of the cot sheets you buy.

Our advice is to avoid plastic altogether including for baby comforters. Non-biodegradable material is not recommended for a baby’s crib.

Last but by no means the least, you must ensure the Durability of baby’s cot bedding. As you know, baby’s going to spend most of his time in the cot. Apart from baby’s cot, plan the nursery well. This can contribute to baby growing up as a happy child.

Lets get back once more to baby’s crib. To recap, lets picture baby lying comfortably on a soft but firm mattress covered with cotton crib sheet and tucked into a light yet warm blanket of pretty design ” not a drab pastel uni-color please! Babies don’t need a pillow and shouldn’t have one until they are over 12 months old. Similarly, don’t laden baby’s cot with soft toys of various shapes, sizes, and colors.

All done, you can rest assured that darling baby is enjoying slumbering comfortably.
